STUDENTS
Georgia STEM Air Quality Winners
These three students have placed first in the 2021 Georgia Air Quality Challenge, all working diligently during their weekends to prove that the PCHS Academy is unique. If you see them around campus, make sure to talk to these guys because they are quite passionate about our Earth and keeping it as green as we can get it! Thank you to Air Emory for giving us the opportunity to compete. We worked with her earlier this year to install the award, an air filter to help formulate future experiments.

Adam Crane
Adam (pictured left) is also a Sophomore here at PCHS, who is hoping to become Robotic Engineer. What he wants to do is revolutionize how we come across robots in our everyday lives, making the world efficient in each and every way. He is hoping he can become the next great innovator for our community, and our world. His message to middle schoolers is to not look back, but look into your future, and what you can do. |
Nick Alexander
Nick (pictured middle) is a Sophomore here at PCHS who has already accomplished a lot, including becoming a HOSA officer and joining the Academy Program. His hopes for the future includes joining the Biotechnology pathway as well as becoming a Geneticist or Genetic Engineer. Nick is extremely passionate about making the world a better place by first ending world hunger by modifying foods to become more nutritious and healthier for us to eat. His quote to middle schoolers is, "Go for it. What do you have to lose? Don't worry about failing." |
William Kaleta
Will (pictured right) is a Junior who's dream has always to be a long haul Truck Driver. His goal is to show the importance of people we might not think about everyday, including farmers and veterans. He also dreams of becoming a member of the U.S. Air Force, hoping he can improve what they do the finest, jets. At PCHS Will is a member of FFA (Future Farmers Association) and is applying for an officer position. His advice to upcoming High Schoolers is not to stress, but be confident, and just be yourself. |
PROJECTS
STEM Garden
The STEM Garden project is an Academy initiative that is aiming to revitalize a garden space located on school property to create a green space that promotes STEM learning. Students and teachers have been working to overhaul this space over the course of the 2022-2023 school year so that it can join the STEM Courtyard and STEM Lab as spaces designed to encourage STEM exploration and discovery. |

Middle School Visits
As part of their 2022 action project, the current Chief Science Officers Jacob Kohler and Kaitlyn Lydick have been working in collaboration with other Academy students to organize visits to middle schools around Paulding County that encourage younger students to explore STEM learning. These visits feature a lab known as Gel Electrophoresis, a procedure Academy students use often across the Biotechnology pathway that is tailored to fit middle school science curriculum and engage the students. |
